As a daughter of a chef I have grown up with the love and passion for fine food and wine. Growing up in the beautiful island of Tasmania has made me appreciate local produce at its finest. Fresh fruit and vegetables are popularly sold on Saturdays at the Salamanca markets, local dairy farmers sell their milk and cheese and organic sourdough bread from the Huon Valley is quick to sell. Travelling around Australia and the world has brought me the wider knowledge and appreciation of good food and wine, yet the recent attention of Tasmania as a food destination brought by Tetsuya and Matthew Evans has put Tasmania on the map as a worldwide food destination for fine produce. Many of the state’s produce is sent directly to the mainland and overseas for exports.
With Tasmania’s cool climate and pure ocean waters the state produces beautiful shell and table fish, particularly farmed rock lobster, scallops, Atlantic salmon, wild and farmed abalone and farmed Pacific oysters and the state is proud of its clean green image. Tasmania is known for its award winning cool climate wines, unique leatherwood honey and fruit, particularly apples and berries.

For my passion for food and wine, this website will encompass Tasmania’s produce on a platter. As a customer, you will be able to purchase Tasmania’s produce, including local wine. The purpose of the website is to showcase the beauty of Tasmania, the produce and give local and mainland chefs a tribute for using and loving the state as a food destination. In the up and coming blogs I will travel Tasmania to discover what products the state has to offer, meet Matthew Evans from Gourmet Farmer and will review local restaurants.
